Encyclopedia.com - Results for Addison's disease

The deterioration of this tissue causes a decrease in the secretion of vital steroid hormones, producing such symptoms as ANEMIA, weakness, abnormal skin pigmentation, and weight loss. The cause of the disease is unknown. Once thought inevitably fatal, the disease is now treated with adrenocortical hormones.
